Can't update from internal SDHC card

Thought I'd try tonight. I get to the "Process starting" screen/window and then nothing. Just sits there.

Didn't damage the router, brick it, etc. Just did nothing.

This might be by design. Just thought I'd mention it.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't let you update the firmware from an internal sdhc card.

I've never tried the USB attached hard drive.

Could be the process only works if you use a LAN attached device for the location of the firmware.
 
USB Drive

I had the same experience on another router. I could not update from an attached USB drive. Kept getting a corrupted file message.

No problem when updating using the same file after I moved it to my laptop.
 
Thanks for confirming it.

Not sure what to call it. It is most likely not a "bug". Guessing the update routine is coded in a way that using the usb storage isn't configured or even considered.

I'm pretty sure the SDHC card is handled in general as any USB device.

Seems to me updating the firmware from attached storage could be safer.

I guess that depends on the update process and where in the process the router loses communication with any USB devices.
