I am trying to understand certificates better

Does the device requesting the certificate from Lets encrypt, request a certificate for only certain ports?

Devices I have work well using ports 443 and 80.

But when I’m trying to set up a certificate for port 12090

I’m hoping that registering a certificate through the asus merlin firmware, that all ports forwarded would be inclusive

Or maybe I’m not understanding how these certificates work.

Currently, I have both domains registered with the Nas drive.

I’m thinking I have to pull one of the certificates out, and use the router to register the certificate

Well, then port forwarding work with https on ports 12090?

Certificates are tied to a hostname, and they must be running on the server answering queries. A certificate installed on the router will have no effect on a port forwarded server, that server has to host its own certificate.
