New Around Here
Hi!

I've recently installed Merlin on my ASUS AX3000v2 (using gnuton, hope I can post about that here) as I needed a couple of features from it.
Then I learned about amtm and entware and boy did a whole world of possibilities open for me. However, I'm experiencing a couple of issues which are seemingly caused by tools installed using entware. First there was SkyNet which sounded like a breeze but turned out to be incompatible with my SSID so it kept my Wireless-settings page hostage; couldn't change anything unless I changed the SSID. :( But the bigger problem and main question I have:

I installed connmon and the speedtest tools using amtm and running an iperf3 server (deployed with opkg). Ever since installing these tools, I often find the router suddenly no longer transmits on channel 112; but instead for some reason switched to channel 40. In the settings it still says its set to channel 112, but in practice its broadcasting on 40. In the System Log -> Wireless Log, it also shows its broadcasting on 40/80(Mhz). The logs reveal nothing else and shows DFS cleared channel 112 for use. The speed is horrible. (goes from +/- 850MBit/s to the outside world to +/- 90MBit/s and craptons of packet loss.) If I set the WiFi channel to 108 and then back to 112 or do something like enabling/disabling "160Mhz" mode: the router goes back to channel 112 without further complaints.

After uninstalling entware, and all the tools it deployed (also goodbye Wireshark :() with it, the problem vanishes and the router happily stays on channel 112 constantly; like it did pre-Entware (both with official and Merlin FW). Another symptom is the webinterface becomes really rather sluggish. (Whilst CPU load is normal). I was wondering if this is a known issue and someone might know what's going wrong/what I did wrong? I wouldn't think a simple tool to do ping tests and a tool to do some speedtests automatically (note: scheduled for 12, 3 and 6AM; but not during awake time.) would cause significant problems as it's rather low resource (note: from SkyNet I would expect maybe some issues as its heavier); but I understand the experimental nature could of course lead to some problems.

Hoping someone can tell me what I did wrong or that I'm simply sh- outta luck. :)
I can live without connmon and such as there are other tools, though it does make it easy to run it on the router, but I'd love the enhanced Guest WiFi stuff.

P.S.:
Configuration: ASUS AX3000 v2 with Merlin "3004.388.8_2-gnuton1_tuf" running in router mode (and acting as modem (PPPoE)). External USB is 64GB USB-3 (write seems to peak out at about 30MB/s, read at 70-ish.) with ext4 partitioning, should that be relevant. swapon 2GB (for Skynet, so now largely unused.). Finally, not sure if relevant and believe it to be irrelevant; but since doing this I also see "kernel: wl0: bcn inactivity detected. kernel: wl0: fatal error, reinitializing, total count of reinit's[195]" popping up from time to time. (Guest) WiFi is operating just fine though.

Thanks!
