I am new to this and fairly confused with what the "Redirect Internet Traffic" option does on the Client VPN settings. I'm using this on an RT-AC66U router to connect to PIA (my tunnel provider).
Merlin has stated:
"If you use the router as a client for a remote VPN server and you wish all computers on your home network to go through the VPN tunnel, you have to configure the client with "Redirect Internet traffic" set to Yes on the router."
With this option turned OFF it seems to me that any traffic, or at least web traffic, coming from any machine connected to my router is going through the VPN. When I turn the option ON I see similar results, but it appears that machine to machine traffic between machines on my local network becomes slower.
Can someone please provide a basic explanation of what this actually does?
Thanks.
