I had similar issues on my RT-AX88U. I had a bunch of "kernel: blog_death_by_timeout: bad timeout value=18446744073709541616, extra_jiffies=30000, idle_jiffies=40000" messages in the system log. The router would give me DHCP errors on WAN about 1-2 times per week and only a reboot would solve it.

I did a factory default on my RT-AX88U without restoring old settings other than writing all my static DHCP entries using SSH/Putty and nvram set command and it's looking much better. No constant flooding of these "kernel: blog_death_by_timeout: bad timeout value=18446744073709541616, extra_jiffies=30000, idle_jiffies=40000" messages anymore at least.

Will have to give it a week or two before I will consider it stable, but at least it looks promising.

Nevermind, my kernel: blog_death_by_timeout: bad timeout value=18446744073709541616, extra_jiffies=30000, idle_jiffies=40000 messages are back :(

So I tried flashing the latest stock firmware and it does the same thing... only with Apex Legends.. I can play for a few minutes... then randomly, I get disconnected from the server (Server Time out)... Once it happens, then the disconnects start happening every few seconds...but only from the game, not the internet... I never lose internet at all... I know because I like playing with a live streaming video running on the 2nd monitor. - - so once I switch to the ISP router, not even once I get disconnected from the game.... I can play Fortnite without issue too... only Apex... very weird.

EDIT..
i've also tried with and without QoS settings.. same issue.

Compare the WAN (public) IP address you get when using your ISP router to the WAN IP address you get when using the Asus. I would expect them to be different because the MAC addresses are different.

It's possible that the IP address being assigned to the Asus has been blacklisted by Apex Legends. If that is the case make a note of your ISP router's WAN MAC address and copy that to the Asus' WAN "MAC Address" field. After power cycling the Asus you should get your old IP address again.

I think someone else suggested doing something like that with the MAC address..but I am a bit lost on how to do that.

So I have the mac address of the ISP modem.. I pasted it on the mac address box next to MAC Clone.. then, just hit apply and reboot.. I don't need to enter or select anything else like... under host name... DHCP query frequency is set to aggressive... I don't change any of that?

That should be enough. To pick up the changes sometimes you have to power off both the cable modem and the router, wait 5 minutes and then power them back on (modem first, wait for it to boot, then the router).

so the public ip whould change depending if using the ISP router vs Asus?
I didn't know that... The ISP Modem/router is the main one.. I have the Asus router connected to the ISP modem using LAN cable and using it as the main wifi.. the ISP modem/router is just for wired devices.

OK so I have rebooted.. i just tried playing the game and the actual message I get is ... Connection to server timed out.

The IP address is associated with the MAC address of whatever device is connected directly to the ISP's network.

Then you can ignore (and undo) everything we've just been talking about because your ISP modem is still the device connected to the ISP network. I had assumed you had "bridged" your ISP modem/router.

As you now have a router (the Asus) behind another router (the ISP's) you have a double NAT situation which is generally a bad thing for multi-player online games.

because I remember long ago, when I had issues with another game while I was behind double nat.. they said I needed to open the required ports for the game.. once I did that.. it was fine then.

what I mean was port forwarding... I actually found the ones I need to forward for Apex and it seems to be working fine.. I've played some time now and no disconnects... If I start having issues, I guess I will have to try bridge mode and only have this router connected.
