I have a very old router that work greats, but is getting long in the tooth.

I've been eyeing the 655 and 825. My main is need is wired routing. I rarely use wireless and when I do it's 802.11g PS3 or laptop. I hope to have the PS3 wired or MOCA soon. The routing charts put the 825 close to the top.

I like to make purchases that are future proof as possible. Someday possibly switching to Draft-N. My new work laptop will be draft N. <- Just discovered that.

Does the 825 seem to fit my bill or is there something coming shortly that would be better suited?

Tim any chance of an 855 Rev B review? Not that I need the screen or a $300 lighter wallet. :D

Don't want to speak for Tim, but I recall he said in other postings that there is no plan to retest the DIR-855 due to its ridiculously high cost.

If you do not need the 5Ghz band you are better off with the DIR-655. if 5Ghz appeals to you, then the DIR-825 is a good choice.

There's always new stuff coming out. If you wait for the ultimate wifi router, you'll be waiting forever.

I was mostly interesting in wired routing speeds.

Since the 825 seems the be the most cost effective one at the tops of the charts, I will give it a try.
