I'm interested in this $70 D-Link DIR-505 "SharePort All-in-One Mobile Companion" wall-wart (2.8 x 2.6 x 1.7 in). PDF
Been using the $30 TP-Link TL-WR700N wall-wart (3.2 x 2.8 x 1.1 in) based on SmallNetBuilder's recent review.
The TP-Link is missing the USB port (for phone charging and drive sharing, with apps to boot), as well as the physical mode selector switch which I think is convenient. But the D-Link in turns seems to lack a WiFi-to-Ethernet bridging mode of operation?
Questions on the D-Link:
- How many watts/amps for the USB charging?
- There's no mention of a WiFi-to-Ethernet bridging (supported on the TP-Link), but the Ethernet port is nonetheless labeled as LAN/WAN?
- How come the Router and Access Point modes share the same selector switch setting? Is it only toggled in software (less convenient)?
Edit: Forgot one question:
- Can the D-Link's USB port work with a 3G USB modem/dongle?
