I've repeatedly (and unsuccessfully) tried to convince others that RAID is not a backup solution - for example, this thread over on the FreeBSD forums, which I started over 2 years ago.
Today I happened to be browsing blu-ray.com and the lead article is titled "Database Loss". I'll paste the lead paragraphs of that article below, but click on the above link for the whole thing.
Perhaps reading the article will help convince people that RAID is Not Backup. Perhaps not. If it does manage to convince you, good.
