Different range public IP addresses from Comcast on AC68R and R7000

My public IP is completely different like R7000 will report 24.118.x.x and 68R will shows as 174.x.x.x something. Any ideas?

Thanks

Working as it should.....your IP is set by DHCP from your ISP and is loosely based on the MAC address of your router. Even with that, your address is not fixed (unless you pay for a fixed IP from your provider) and can change just by rebooting the router.

I understand what you are saying, but I don't think it should be that much a difference in IP range. 24.x.x.x vs 174.x.x.x. Don't you think?

As ISPs run out of IPs, they obtain new IP ranges from ARIN, which can be totally different. This is perfectly normal.

I guess it's ok. It's just weird. It seems to be only effecting Asus router as I have some other older routers and they all had 24.x IP range. May be it has something to do with IPv6 and Comcast and how Comcast distributes IPs.

Thanks anyway.
