[Solved] Disconnected in games on the 5GHz frequency

Hi guys, this issue is really killing me. I tried asking RMerlin for help since he seems to know so much, however, it would appear as though he had no interest in helping me. Because of that, I decided to create this thread. I hope I chose the right section.

I'll just copy paste what I wrote to him in his thread.

So after trying so many things, I ended up installing the Merlin firmware for my AC66U, however it didn't solve my issue.

What do you think is causing the packet loss on the 5GHz frequency? I'm sitting about 4M away from the router, but behind a wall. 2.4GHz works fine, no packet loss.
It's impossible to game properly on the 5GHz because of that slight loss.

An update:
The packet loss was not the issue. It is something else that makes me DC from games on the 5GHz frequency.

Above you have the router name and the Wireless-USB Adapter. I really hope that someone can help me.

Try a different adaptor.

Sadly, I only have one.

edit: Actually, my laptop can connect to the 5GHz connection. I'll try it out.

update: Seems to work fine on my laptop. So this means I should have my adapter replaced, or could there be an issue with the USB ports/drivers?

It's probably a matter of both (the hardware and the drivers for the USB adaptor).

I think the AC53 USB adaptor may be a better overall choice.

But check out the article above (and the second graph in the linked page, especially) to see if there are better choices for you locally.

That huge dip at 24 dBm may be what you are experiencing (even at lower signal levels).

I have the USB-AC53 and I do everything on 5Ghz, gaming included, with no problems and I am 25ft from my router. Also, if I was 4m from my router, I would just hard wire it.

I actually managed to solve the issue. I uninstalled the asus drivers and the included software and let windows install its own drivers for it.
No problem since. I wouldn't have tried this without your help. Thanks guys :)
