dns log

I am using the hosts file method to block ads but I suspect this is causing my set top box to throw a wobbler when it initially boots up.

Is there a way I can look at dns requests logged via the router while I turn the device on before I resort to trying wireshark?

Thanks.

Hi,

Why not use opendns.com?
https://store.opendns.com/get/home-free

You can block certain categories, monitor traffic, and monitor block sites.

I already use opendns, thanks. The reason I use host based file for adblocking is that opendns offers no such category afaik.

I think you are right, however, the option "Adware" filters a lot.
However, OpenDNS let you block / manage individual domains. Perhaps this is your solution?
