For some reason DHCP clients on my LAN seem unable to get the DNS servers from my router.

For my WAN DNS settings I have:
Connect to DNS server automatically set to No
DNS Server1 is 8.8.8.8
DNS Server2 is 8.8.4.4

If I don't manually set the DNS on clients, either iOS devices or Win PCs, then I can't access web pages.

Have I set something up wrong?

My router is the Asus RT-N66U with firmware 3.0.0.4.270

FYI - My ISP is Rogers Ultimate 250/20 service and my modem is a Hitron 3GN in Bridge mode.

This could be related to the modem as it is a POS.

Yes, manually changing to 8.8.8.8 solves the problem but you have to do that on each DHCP device for each network which is a major annoyance. My wife thought the internet was done since her iPhone wasn't connecting. I have multiple WAPs in the house to give good wifi coverage. We have two phones, 7 tablets, and other devices using DHCP.

Anyone have an idea on how to troubleshoot? Are my router settings correct? Is there anything else that could be wrong?

no - if you enter it here you should not have a problem:

LAN -> DHCP Server -> DNS Server

and on WAN Internetconnection

you should enable connect automatically

Thanks - there wasn't anything entered in this area, just under the WAN DNS setting page. I didn't know I had to enter it in both spots.

Now on my iPads the DNS shows up as "8.8.8.8, 192.168.1.1". I still have the WAN DNS Connect Automatically set to no. If I enable connect automatically it removes the boxes to specify a DNS - doesn't it then just pull the DNS from your ISP? I am not sure that I want that.

you can have it to yutomatically connect. It should not be a Problem :)

the DNS Server you set under:

LAN -> DHCP Server -> DNS Server

are given to all clients - if nothing is entered it should give your router to all clients- but this doesn´t work everytime - so it´s better if you give here the DNS Server you want to have on your Clients :)

Sorry for my english
