So I've previously been using the Corinex. And I've recently come across a good deal on a used TP-Link, so I took it and will be testing when I get back home.

However I wanted to understand, as I haven't been able to find anything that effectively compares DS2 and HomePlug AV2.

The Corinex for example has never been able to connect across different phases. This thread seems to suggest the TP-Link should have no problems doing it https://www.snbforums.com/threads/powerline-ethernet-issues-cross-phases.4178/

In addition I believe the line might have a lot of noise as the corinex even in the same phase was not able to be very far apart.

So the bottom line is; can I expect better connection stability and range with a HomePlug AV2 vs my old DS2?

What are the diferences that allow that?

PS: As I said the deal was too good, so I took it and will be testing. I'm just trying to get a feel of what I can expect.

Maybe - DS2 is it's own spec, outside of HomePlug AV/AV2...

Ds2 is kind of a dead end once Marvell bought them.

quick tip - the TP-Link AV2 kit you picked up - there are some random dropout issues with the QCA7500 chipsets there

UPDATE:

So I have two floors. Before the Corinex DS2, was unable to get a connection even across 2 rooms.

Home connection
200Mbps/20Mbps.

DS2 Setup:
A wifi extender that connects to one of the DS2 powerline (1) adapters, this is in the hallway where there is some wifi signal. (1) then connects with the other DS2 powerline (2) in a room that had no wifi signal.
The connection was 10Mpbs/5Mbps at best, sometimes worse.
Attempting to put the powerline setup futher apart was impossible.

HomePlug AV2 Setup:
Connects directly downstairs to the router. Upstairs the power line receives, at least 70Mbps/20Mbps , sometimes more depending on the noise in the electrical system.

This is a great result. The TP-Link HomePlug AV2 completely out performs the Corinex DS2 is definitely worth the upgrade.

DS2 is long dead technology,
The DS2 / HomePlug battle held back powerline from becoming a more mainstream technology.

Thanks. I can live with that though, picked them up for 10$ (used) + a wireless extender, so not much too lose, and I already gained with the current setup according to initial tests.
