I have a DS213j with 2 2TB WD red drives installed. I’ve set it up so the drives are mirrored (1 disk redundancy). Can I back up the existing data to a external drive and then reconfigure the DS drives to SHR and no redundancy (around 4TB usable) and then copy data back to the DS with no data loss? (Assuming the copying process has no problems)

Thanks.

Sorry, I don't know. I doubt it. I use two volumes, no RAID, no SHR. Volume 2 backs up volume 1 using synology's Time Backup which also does versioning. I don't want a single volume with RAID or SHR - no protection from human error and no protection from corrupted file system.
Two volumes = two file systems.
