At least it's DDR4 which is current won't command a premium like older boxes using DDR3.
I thought you had all of your data hoarding sorted out though? Still contemplating something different? DIY perhaps would be a good idea. I'm sure you have a spare PC laying around somewhere collecting dust that could be repurposed.

Posted as a FYI purpose.
Currently I have zero issues with my DS918+, although I am watching for a separate Synology NAS for on-site redundant backups and jumping into Home Surveillance with Surveillance Station 9.
