New Around Here
My current set up is;
  • G-Fast Fibre (Which is why i have the DSL-AC88U)
  • DSL-AC88U as main router.
  • Asus Rog Rapture AC5300 setup in repeater mode
My previous setup;
  • BT Ultrafast HomeHub, setup to DMZ to my Asus Rog Rapture AC5300

I changed my setup because;
  • Wanted a 'HUB' of some sort next to my PC, and i can't get ethernet to it, so wanted to connect a ton of devices there together with a repeater of sorts. So they were on a HUB together for quicker connections to one another.
  • When the BT Hub updated or turned off etc, i'd have to connect a device to it to bring internet through ethernet back to my ROG Rapture AC5300. Sort of like a jump start to the HomeHub, im guessing the router wasn't doing the required requests for the Hub to start giving out internet i dunno?

Problems i'm now having;
  • I'd like to have all my devices connect to my ROG, so i have it set up as a repeater, using the 2nd 5GHZ radio band to connect to the AC88U and then having the 2.4Ghz and 1st 5GHz radio for clients to connect to. I've hidden the Bands on the AC88u.
  • This seems to work fine for some time, maybe as short as 15min, or sometimes works longer. I've noticed when it starts to have issues, the AC88U control panel doesn't show the Rog Rapture as connected. (192.168.2.2) but it shows some clients that are connected to the Rog Rapture.
  • At first i thought it was a DHCP passthrough issue but seeing as though its like the Rapture isn't even showing on the AC88U im not even sure.
  • Sometimes it just seems to stop giving out internet access for 15min or so, then works again. If i reboot the Rog Rapture it tends to make it all fully work like it should, but it only lasts so long.

I've done some reading and read about there being mismatches in firmware versions that can cause repeater related issues but can't really find out enough information to make me start wanting to flash them both with different versions in home it suddenly works. I'm on the latest versions on Asus's website for both routers.

Any suggestions would be great.

(P.S Sorry for the wall of text, i hope it's readable).
