DTS announced plans to bring Alexa and Amazon’s Alexa-enabled products into its Play-Fi ecosystem. According to the plan, Amazon products like Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap and Amazon Fire TV will soon control and play audible content on third-party DTS Play-Fi powered speakers.
DTS Play-Fi uses wireless audio streaming to play lossless content from music services like Amazon Prime, Pandora, Sirius and other companies. The platform lets different products from different companies work together, giving listeners the opportunity to build their own listening environments.
Play-Fi partners will also benefit from the collaboration as these companies produce Play-Fi compatible accessories that can use the Alexa Voice Service. This includes wireless products, speakers, sound bars, receivers, and microphones – including far-field mics that have Alexa Voice Service built into their DTS Play-Fi system set for launch in Q1 2017.
