As opposed to updating my build thread, I want to create a new thread that can hopefully help some people wanting to try out EON Storage as their NAS OS.

I'm currently testing, but I've run into some problems. I've installed to USB drive for now, but I'd like to look into a IDE -> CF adapter so I can keep everything contained. I'm running a windows domain, so it appears my best option is SMB, which I have setup once and seen great transfer rates. After rebooting/reconfiguring (see below), I can't seem to duplicate the results.

First problem is that it doesn't seem to be persistent - after each init 6, I start over. I followed the instructions on the EON site, but when running the updimg.sh command, I get an error saying it needs a target. Since I'm not local to the machine now, I don't want to break it where I'd need local access to fix, so I don't want to experiment too much right now without some guidance.

I'm now having permission issues with EON after attempting to re-configure, and I can see the shares but they don't seem to be working with AD authentication. I must have missed something. Once I get it all sorted out, I'd like to write up a tutorial on the entire setup from start to finish, as I think this is a good OS, and if you can get past the initial setup, I think many people would use it.

Attached is my IOZone results that I can't seem to duplicate...

First problem solved. After reading on the opensolaris forums, the following command is required after completing your initial config:

updimg.sh /mnt/eon0/boot/x86.eon

I'll update as I get further...
