New Around Here
Hi All,

I have who currently uses an Apple Airport Extreme 802.11ac
to access a Mac Mini media server.
He has 10 Macbook Pro Retinas ( all 802.11ac ) in close
proximity. They accessing 10GB Video files, sometimes
simultaneously.

Playback is smooth as you as add Macbook Pro's.
Until he get's to number about no. 4.
The it can slow / stutter.

There is no issue if he uses a Wired GIGBIT Switch.

But he wants to transition to a Wireless solution.

Looking at ASUS and/or NETGEAR try back solutions.

But not clear on which is best fit?

Regards,

Tony

fastest router or fastest wireless?
For the fastest router theres always the cisco edgerouter or mikrotik ccr1072.
For the fastest wireless you can build your own using mikrotik's RB9xx series as they have mini PCIe. You could have 3 wireless AC radio and use routerOS to chain all of them to give you loads of wifi bandwidth. You would also have to do LAGG on the 2 wired ports too for the wireless to keep up.

Other options are a desktop with many PCIe ports and many PCIe wireless cards (you can add usb to the mix too). Configuration would be a pain but you could at least use up all available 5Ghz space.
