Finally utilizing wireless AC !!

Since my newly purchased Asus laptop has a cheap single band wifi card in it I decided to finally make use of my AC router and purchased the Asus USB AC53 adaptor. I know USB AC56 is now available but I did not want a huge antenna sticking out the side my new sleek laptop and I read the review on this site and it convinced me USB2 would not hinder its performance. I must say paired with my AC66u performance is exceptional for a $49 adaptor. Windows 8 reports a full 867 Mbps. I will admit my laptop sits right beside my router in my office, I've yet to test throughout my house.
If your looking for a quick and easy way to upgrade to wireless AC this is a good little adaptor if the wifi card cannot be upgraded in your laptop like mine.
In my honest opinion its unacceptable Asus stick cheap wifi cards in their $800+ laptops and this is how they expect you to utilize the power of their routers. I let them know this through the support line and they repsonded by saying they would look into upgrading in future laptop models.

Personally I went with an Intel 7260 which I installed inside my Asus K53E (previously I had it upgraded with a Centrino 6230). Since I mostly use the laptop while sitting on the couch, I don't want any USB things sticking out, and potentially breaking off if I shift around on the couch with the laptop accross my knees.

It doesn't really matter the specific brand...most laptops don't come with high end current wifi cards..ur lucky to get dual band cards, even in expensive laptops...also....most seem to the 2 stream(2 antennas) card and not 3 stream cards.....very annoying..

And stay away from Lenovo if you want to upgrade internal wifi card....it won't boot if it detects a non authorized wifi card.
