New Around Here
Hello,
We live in a very old house, and after several additions and many network issues, the entire cabling was just "patched" together. As a result, I've made it a priority to re-run coaxial and phone cables in our home, and also run ethernet for the first time to several rooms.
I've already successfully replaced the coaxial, and our televisions are working much better now. So I'm ready to move on to the ethernet and phone lines, which I'm planning on using Cat-5e cable. (I'll be running two separate lines so I can get a full gigabit LAN.) However, I've run into several problems, particularly with the phone line.
1. I am not sure how the phone line comes into the house from the ONT. Here are some pictures, and a video as well showing the phone line from the ONT to another box, which I cannot identify.

If you go through the photostream, you can see the ONT, then the box where the phone line goes to, another picture of the ONT, the box I can't identify open, and then finally where the wires coming out of the box go into the house.
Here's a video that shows the whole thing for clarity.

If anybody could help me understand what's happening here, I'd really appreciate it.
2. When I get the new ethernet wire in the house for the phone line, how do I split it to go into different rooms? I was thinking I'd need something like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000AR0I4/?tag=snbforums-20, but I wanted to double check before I pull the trigger.
Thanks for the help.
