There's reported issues with some Australian ISP DSLAMs and ASUS routers, where CHAP authentication causes frequent ADSL dropouts due to re-authentication not succeeding. The usual advice is to switch to PAP authentication.
I'm experiencing such dropouts, and switched my modem out of bridged mode, and configured it to use PAP. The dropouts stopped, but I much prefer the ASUS-AC66U router as the main firewall & router, rather than crippled thing the ISP provides. Also, double NAT'ing is nasty, even with a DMZ.
I've poked through the menu's, but I can't see any way to force the AC66U to use PAP rather than CHAP with PPPoE authentication. Is it currently possible, or is this a feature request?
