So.. I think I found out why my QoS was NOT working... For traditional QoS at least. (Dynamic QoS solved nothing at all)

Upload Bandwidth and Download Bandwidth are SWAPPED!!!

I put my download speed under "Upload Bandwidth"
And my Upload speed under "Download bandwidth"

So how long has this been broken like this?? Last time I tried QoS with an ASUS router was just over a year ago and QoS never worked. Thought I'd swap them and INSTANTLY QoS is finally working. Also occurs with Merlin as well.

I found posts from last year of users thinking QoS was broken but seems to be indeed the settings are swapped. Why wouldnt have ASUS already noticed this?

Years. A quick google search would confirm that.

Every google search ive found just said it was broken. I haven't seen anything about people pointing out it actually works if you reverse the two settings.

The values aren't just "swapped", or otherwise you would have the same issue on MIPS models. The root problem is more complicated than that.

Yeah but QoS is working perfectly now! I'm actually able to use this router with no buffer bloat issues.

There have been numerous posts suggesting that as a possible solution. By as Merlin pointed out it's not a real solution, it only appears to work for some people in some circumstances.

From my experience downloads in IPV4 show on the Download Bandwidth meter and downloads on IPV6 show on the Upload Bandwidth meter. With QOS set to Automatic I have no issues. I believe setting QOS to manual can limit IPV6 downloads to the QOS Upload Bandwidth setting. Of course this is from my observations and not scientific discovery.

I don't use IPV6.

Auto still causes random buffer bloat when downloading at times.

But so far things seem great now that I've swapped those settings
