New Around Here
Hey first time poster and first time NAS buyer.

I watch a lot of movies and want to stream media to my media box and also my DLNA tv.

I assume I need a good nas for this, one bay 2tb is only needed as I back up pics ect.. to my PC and external drive, so only movies.

The DS111 can be had for around 160.00 in the UK and the TS-119+ is more at 210.00 but this has extra memory.

Whats your thoughts, or any other sugestions welcome.

Thanks for the help, Oh and PS could go up to 250.00 if the NAS can transcode on the fly, but dont want any loud servers, or something thats going to use tons of energy as this will be in the bedroom, so silence is the key

be careful about file type, in particular what your DLNA TV can read. You don't want to / won't be able to transcode any HD stuff and most probably any std stuff on the models you suggest.

yes, to transcode std def or HD takes a much speedier CPU than in NASes. I don't recall seeing transcoding functions in them.
Perhaps transcoding could be done late night, etc. But I wouldn't try it.
