GT-98 Pro: Unable to Update to RMerlin FW (Error Message)

Poseidon

Senior Member
I’m trying to update my GT-98 Pro from stock ASUS fw (3.0.0.6.102_37038) to Merlin fw (3.0.0.6.102.3) but I’m getting a firmware not supported and update is unsuccessful message.

Any way to fix this please? Thanks

Yes, read Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.3 changelog:

Did you read the Change Log for merlin firmware?
3006.102.3 (11-Jan-2025)
- NOTE: If flashing on top of Asus stock firmware 3006.102_37000
or greater, then you first need to enable downgrade
capabilities before flashing Asuswrt-Merlin on top
of it. Connect Over SSH, and run the following command:

nvram set DOWNGRADE_CHECK_PASS=1

After that, you can upload Asuswrt-Merlin through
the webui like any regular firmware upgrade.

This is only required when flashing Asuswrt-Merlin
for the first time.

BTW, those instructions are also in the README-merlin.txt file included in the archive, as well as on the Installation wiki page, which would be more intuitive for a first time installer than the Changelog.
