GT-AC5300 low signal strength on 5G-1 network

I picked up a GT-AC5300 several weeks ago, as an upgrade for my failing AC-87U, and have been pretty happy with it. I am having a problem though, where the 5G-1 has low signal strength. This is an issue regardless what wifi channel is used. The 5G-2 network doesn't have this problem.

An example of this is that standing within a couple meters of the router will show 2 out of 4 for signal strength on a MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone. It drops to 1 out of 4 pretty quickly.

My all 3 of my RT-AC5300 have less strength on the 5G-1 as well, not to the extent you mention though, you only notice when a couple of rooms away. I assumed it is how they all are.
Maybe yours has a fault which accentuates this ‘feature’.

Seems like a classic bug. If you don't get this resolved, you may want to get a Linksys EA9500v2. Its more or less the same hardware as the GT-AC5300 but without the bugs

You may want to install a wireless survey software, highly recommended WiFiAnalyzer for Android or inSSIDer for ios, and post the the measured values for both 5GHz bands. I wouldn't rely at all on indicators on devices.
There will be a significant difference (8-9db) if the second 5GHz radio uses a channel >100+.
In US:
36, 40, 44, 48 200mw
52, 56, 60, 64 1w
149, 153, 157, 161 4w
In Europe
36-64 200mw
100-140 1w
155, 159, 163, 167, 172 4w
So based on the chanell you're using, you will find a decent difference.
I'm like 2m away from my router, and 1st 5GHz radio gives me -50 on channel 52, while 2nd radio gives me -41 on channel 100. I'm in Europe.

36-64 @200mW and 100-140@1W are ok for EU.
But where did you find anything about 155-172 @4W?
Never heard about that in EU, only GB allows allmost all channels possible.

Not quite: 100+ are significantly stronger in Europe
