GT-AC5300 Network Ping

Since the Asus GT-AC5300 has some nice network stats what exactly is the Network Ping stats? Is that ping to Asus servers or somewhere on the web? It's showing the bellow stats so I'm confused. If it's internal ping why is it so high?

Average Network Ping: 12.742 ms
Average Ping Deviation: 0.997 ms

When I run a trace route it shows internal ping under 1 ms.

Did you ever find out the answer to your question? I have the same question. My Ping has been around 10ms and only a small deviation but about a month ago it sometimes is 40 - 120 ms average and the deviations are up to 150 - 300 ms. My download speed is still ok over 100MBS but some games lag or stop for a second or two when this problem is exhibiting.
