I was wondering (and didn't see it posted) if ASUSWRT-Merlin has any plans on creating alternative firmware for the GT-AC5300 router. I've experienced some issues with the most recent supported firmware, enough to encourage me to look for alternate means of addressing and fixing those issues. Any help is appreciated.

No, the GT-AC5300 is not supported. At this late stage, highly doubtful it will be either.
