I'm wondering if someone smarter than me (so most people on this forum!) can help me understand what I missed or how this happened.
So, setup...
- Wireless IoT devices are on a guest network (YazFi) with one-way-to-guest and device isolation setup running on subnet B.
- Home Assistant is running on the main network - subnet A via ethernet.
This evening I've setup a Shelly wifi relay on the guest network - no app or cloud involved, just straight connection to it's original AP on power up the swap to the guest network. It has never been connected to the main network but despite that Home Assistant detected it up as a new device available to connect without any intervention.
I know that the isolation on the guest wifi isn't perfect (better than nothing, multiple layers etc) but I wasn't expecting the broadcast based automatic detections to work given the separate subnets.
So back to the opening question - what did I miss or I'm misunderstanding?
