As the title suggests, does this router support a guest network when the router is used strictly as an access point?
Some details that might help determine if this router would work for us:
Right now we have a small business class Cisco SA540 router that connects to our cable modem and hands out IPs (DHCP turned on). We have a Netgear GS724Tv3 smart switch that is connected to it which all of our wired devices are connected to.
We want to purchase three access points (which would be hard-wired to the Netgear switch as well) that support 2.4 and 5 GHz, as well as, guest network functionality. We want the devices that connect to the guest network to be completely isolated from the main network (and other devices connected to the guest network).
We don't have any VLANs setup as we don't really have much experience with them. Therefore, we want each RT-AC66U to hand out IPs to any devices that connect to it's guest network.
Each access point will have the same SSID for the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. That is what we have right now and folks are able to roam around (no complaints from anyone). We want the guest network to work the same way though. We want every access point to have the same SSID for the guest network.
BTW, the guest network only has to be supported on the 2.4 GHz band.
