Haier CE81b USB modem support

New Around Here
Dear RMerlin,

while trying to use Haier CE81b (V1) modem in my Asus RT-N66U router, I found, that it's impossible with the latest versions of both Merlin build (378.53) and ASUS firmware. It recognises modem as Qualcomm device, but can't establish connection (message "WAN Connection: Fail to connect with some issues.")

I've tried another versions of Merlin build and found that 376.49_5 still can't work with the same issue, while 376.47 is ok (didn't test intermediate builds).

Perhaps, something changed in USB modems support? It's not critical for me (I can stay with 376.47) but rather can be information for you. If you need more information on this - I can help with any additional diagnostics per your instructions.

My wireless SP is Intertelecom Rev.B (Ukraine), modem don't use RUIM and configured for this SP in service centre.

Thanks.

I don't work on USB modems support, as I have no way of testing it. Therefore that support will always be tied to Asus's original code.

If you insert RUIM. You can use intertelecom.
And you can see in right top corner - icon.
If you not insert ruim - you see comments on icon - no insert sim card and modem not work.
If you insert ruim card - you see comments on icon - insert sim card and modem work.
Maybee router thinking that the card not insert in modem and didn't try connect.
