help a dad out (website monitoring, RT-AC66U)

New Around Here
Ok, I'm trying to find a decent way of monitoring the traffic on my router. Clearly I'm new at this, but I'm trying to figure out how to see logs of what websites are being visited. Then decide if they should be blocked. I'd think my router, RT-AC66U, would have that capability? Is there a way of record this info? Is it possible through the Merlin firmware?

Thanks

I'm a dad as well and I struggle with the parental controls on the AC66u, there is no website logging capability I am aware of, even with Merlin firmware.

I believe Opendns offer basic logging which you can use in conjunction with your router.

You would need Tomato for website monitoring, but it's not available for the RT-AC66U yet.

Have you thought about setting up your router DNS servers to be OpenDNS ones?, they do a really good job of stopping the majority of 'dodgy' sites getting through to the kids here.

It's not a perfect solution by any means , but I'd say that's 85-95% of the sites blocked.

Microsoft Family Safety. It's what I use. But it only works on the pc.

Thanks for your replies. I'm not sure if i am comfortable with openDNS. Another group monitoring traffic. Plus I am to have sure it won't mess with my VPN for work. RMerlin, would tomato sit on top of the native firmware or your firm ware?

Is anyone familiar with busybox? Seems to be another potential solution floating around.
