New Around Here
I Followed the directions
power down
hold reset button , power up and hold reset for 10sec
recover mode, insert firmware , upload and it should flash

the problem is that it goes through all of that and it just comes back the same firmware as in the image.
i have tried using the Asus software to flash and it still ends up the same
i have tried using various firmware , even the stock ones from Asus , any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi,

376.x is simply far to old to update directly to the newest firmware version!

We are nowadays on 384.x firmware - so you need to do an intermediate step to change the ROM/NVRAM layout: Install Merlin's something like RT-AC68U_378.55_0 *) first and then go for an actual version.

*) I recall that you should install .50 for the CFE (BIOS) update and re-partitioning - but I could not find it in the Merlin archive - hope that .55 works as well. ;)

I'm having the same issue. I'm on 384.5 Beta 2 and it won't upgrade to 384.5 release version. It won't upgrade. I had this issue before with an older version and I had to downgrade to an old version like 378.55 then do the upgrade to 384 beta. I think I need to do this again but go from 378.55 to a few more incremental upgrades throughout the process to get to 384.5 release version.

I shouldn't have to go through this just to upgrade firmware. I'm not sure if something is corrupted or what. I've never had this issue until recently. I've had this router for 2 or 3 years no issues.

Well beta firmwares are called "beta" for a reason. What router model do you have? Is it a TM-AC1900 because they're not supported?

It's a TM- AC1900 which I converted to an AC68u. Like I said I never had problems betas or release until the 384 betas. I will try to downgrade then upgrade to only the full release and see how that upgrade goes for now on. if I keep having the problem it's got to be some corruption error.

What do you recommend when upgrading? Clear the cache, nvram etc....

Thanks
