I have a faulty ax88u router from a friend who was about to bin it after his WAN port along with Ethernet ports 1-4 failed. Ports 5-8 are okay.
In this situation I can’t use the routers DUAL WAN feature to map the WAN Port to Ethernet 1-4 and get it connected to Internet.
I opened up the router to see any obvious faults such as dry joint or loose cables but couldn’t spot anything wrong visually. I pressed down on some connectors to ensure they were not loose.
I didn’t take the PCB out and look at the underside because it was fixed down tightly.
Any ideas on how I could possibly rescue the router ?
Maybe apply hot hair dryer air to back part where ports are in case of a dry joint ?
Worst case maybe i can ssh and add port 5 as a dual WAN port option ? By default only ports 1-4 are available.
Otherwise maybe swap ports 5-8 with ports 1-4 ?
I would need instructions to do this.
