New Around Here
hi guys, i am new to this forum and i was wandering if anyone can reccommend a good cable router to use with the virgin media superhub in modem mode. i am currently on the 100Mb package and i think this will be being upgraded to 120Mb when the double speeds come around. i would preferably not like to spend over £40 if possible.

heres some info on what i need to connect to it.

i have a computer and xbox 360 connected via ethernet, i have an ipad and 2 phones connected by wireless. i would imagine i would need a gigabit router. i do like to play online games such as fifa 12 and world of warcraft so if i need to spend a little bit more then i can probably stretch to around £60 if needed.

i have been looking at these on ebay and amazon but wandered if anyone thinks any are better or what one of the 5 would be the best.

is it worth getting a dual band router? if so i have seen this one

I think it is far better to get a cable modem from your ISP (they own it), then select and buy your own router.

Perhaps that's what you mean to do.. rather than seeking an all-in-one cable modem/router.

hi, yes i have a cable modem/router (virgin media superhub) at the moment but it is a cheap bit of crap from the ISP and the wireless performance on it is dreadful. i have been advised to set this modem/router to modem only mode and then use a seperate router for the wireless. i believe all the ones i linked were just routers i think. i was just wandering if they are any good or if theres better ones out there for around the same price

"best" generic WiFi router is a tough one. You can read the reviews here.
Opinion: Don't overbuy. US$50 or less is fine for the average user. My own preference is Linksys, Belkin, Buffalo, not Netgear or D-Link. I myself use Cradlepoint but I'm extra-geeky.
