New Around Here
I recently built myself what i thought was a fairly decent home backup/media server. Its a Q8200 with 4GB RAM and about 6.5 TB of storage, and its running WHS and FlexRaid. It also streams all of my media to a couple XBMC boxes I have laying around the house as well as acts as offsite storage for a couple of my friends. Currently I have about 3.5 TB full with all of our pictures and music and recently finished ripping our entire movie collection to it. I currently use WHS to duplicate our pictures and music and whatnot but then use FlexRaid to protect our ripped movie collection because duplicating them would take up too much space.

Im beginning to doubt my decisions on using the WHS/FlexRaid combo and am curious what everybody here thinks. A buddy of mine suggested I use something that would allow me to do some sort of snapshot style backup where i would be able to go back and recover anything that was accidentally deleted but i know nothing about that kind of software. So, did I make a huge mistake by using the WHS/FlexRaid combo? If I were to switch to something different it would need to be able to serve the same functions as above,

Media Storage/Streaming
Offsite Backup for Friends
Backup for me

In case anybody is wondering why im doubting my current setup is that the developer for FlexRaid seems to have disappeared and from what i have read each version of it only works for like 90 days, which could seriously pose a problem if he doesnt make a new version before time runs out.

Any thoughts?
