I used a free LAN test software. I can boot my iMac into Windows 7 Ultimate
Dlink wired to GB switch to GB ports on Asus RT-AC68U router
iMac is wired straight to router
Qnap 1 RJ45 is wired to router/1 RJ45 to GB switch (this is fail over connection)
MTU 1500 all around

QNAP is faster and newer than the Dlink
the USB3 drive on the router just won't work as a "NAS" because it failed on the READ after writing 5000 Mb to it.
So this is just a exerciser in futility..................
