New Around Here
Hi all,

I am looking at upgrade my home office. At present i have a zoomadsl modem and it has worked fine..

But i aim to upgrade the office in general. I thinking on getting a network based nas .. was looking at the DROBO elite (since i going to be streaming even video/audio and have remote ftp access)... is there anything better than the DROBO elite when it comes to this.. was looking for somrthing with a built in bit-torrent client.... and a fast read/writer speeds.

Also on the networking front i was looking for a GREAT Gigibyte wireless router that would be have good speeds at 10 meters to 100 meters ay... will have my laptop in my bedroom which is on the second floor of my house.. . i also do some gaming so i need the router to have a good QOS.

Any advice will b greatly appreciated

If you post more information such as data storage size wants/needs, number of networked devices, number of concurrent devices streaming from the NAS, etc. it would be easier for people to make some suggestions.
The Drobo Elite is very high end. Definitely would suit your needs, but is it overkill? There are many lower priced quality NASes that offer the services you want, but may have less drive slots.

Also check here for router reviews

I agree with Jadae that a Drobo Elite is overkill. Plus the only network connection it supports is via iSCSI, which your clients would need to support.

I would not recommend any router for gaming if fast and reliable response is required. Wireless is not a low-latency networking technology.

What do you mean by "good" speed? A 100m connection may not work at all, depending on building construction and RF environment.
