Greets,

I'm looking for feedback on DLNA servers and how important it is/was to your NAS selection process?

I ask, because i've gotten alot of request to add DLNA to EON (http://eonstorage.blogspot.com). I chose to build mediastomb but face numerous compilation challenges so far to add all the features. So just wanted to hear some feedback.

thanks

For me, it was essential to my last purchase.

I had a D-Link DNS-323, which although was a little latent, it "did the job". However when I upgraded my home theatre in the latter half of last year, I upgraded to a Promise NS2300N, which is DLNA certified.

Also, although MediaTomb currently runs on many NAS solutions to give this DLNA functionality, many NAS producers are altering the security on their devices, which will limit the units, it will run on. I know the Promise SOHO's are in that category... MediaTomb runs on them now, however within a couple of firmware releases, it won't.

this is important is you are planning to watch and listen to something stored on your nas from other devices.

For example I have DLNA TV samsung and Androit Tablet - Galaxy Tab with installed ArkMC applciation.

I have also WD nas at my home network. Whis I use to store music and video. And it is very comfortable to sit at the sofa and watch videos on my tab, or just push one button and redirect video from ArkMC to TV!

If you would by DLNA NAS - here is the link for arkMC: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arkudadigital.arkmc.gm
