Hiya everyone apologies! if this has been discussed a few times in the past.

I've got a Asus AX86U Pro router running the latest Merlin Firmware and it's been absolutely rock solid for just over 3 weeks now without a single WiFi drop or router restart needed.

What's best practice do I really need to give it a restart...and if so how often it's not a problematic router at all .Or should I just leave it ..

I have a feeling I've opened Pandora's box here ...but it's good to see what you guys have done and most importantly what's "best practice" if their is such a thing for this .

Many thanks 😎☝️👍.

nly time my routers reboot is when I load new Merlin FW other than that it runs let it run 30 days now no reboots all is well

Its a question asked from time to time (see the forum search feature). Generally you do not need to reboot an Asus router unless a change in the GUI forces a router reboot, or you have updated the firmware on the router, or you are finding there is a specific problem or issue where to troubleshoot a reboot is a standard first troubleshooting step. Otherwise leave the router alone so it can do its thing.

If you really need to reboot to keep it going - something is wrong there. No issues - don't touch, find something else to play with... 🤫

I agree - and if you're either running stock AsusWRT or RMerlin's build without the third party scripts, you're likely good to go...

The more things you add - VPN client, Samba filesharing, TimeMachine Backups, the mentioned third party scripts, then stability over the long term might be a problem - and there - maybe reboot it on a scheduled basis - once a week to clear up things might be in order...
