How to limit bandwith?

Hi all,

Is there any way to limit bandwith per IP on RT-AC68U?
I've logged into my ISP's online account and it showed that I've used 600GB past month! That's alot. So far I know its a wireless user (my network is secured).

TIA

Would QoS do?
It says:
If you want to prioritize specific network applications and network devices, select your preferred priority from the User-defined QoS rules.

I've tried it but all what it does is that prioritizes and does not limit.

i was hoping for the feature to built in, but it seems that tomato is the only choice for that (at least shibby's has it). i have the ac66u and it can use shibby's tomato, but i bought a cheap refurb belkin for that role and use my ac66u as just an AP.

i've been using shibby tomato at work and the the BW limiting works great... at home too. i'm on AT&T and my daughter sucks up BW watching HD youtube.

QoS can limit the rate (b/s) but not the total traffic transferred (b).

If you want to limit the rate...

Turn on QoS and set your available bandwidth.

Then go to "User-defined QoS rules".

Put in the name, IP or mac, leave the port/transferred blank, and set the protocol to any. Classify the priority as lowest.

Then go to the "User-defined priorities" and set the max download limit on the lowest priority to 1% or more. (in my testing, setting 0% seems to remove the limit completely, anything over 30% on the downstream will also effectively be unlimited). Set the upstream 1% or more, the percentage is accurate when limiting upstream.

Prioritizing an IP as lowest and setting a limit WILL limit them even if there is more bandwidth available.

Just a few notes. Any unclassified traffic will fall into the "Low" category. I also suggest testing the limits on your IP with a speedtest to ensure it's working as intended.

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain. I will give it a try and report back.

So far there's nothing for 68U from Shibby?
