how to read the stats file

I enabled stats and it is stored hourly as a zip file. once i extracted it, i am not able to open it in notepad.
tomato_rstats_08606e22aa48 is the file name.
how can i read the stats file?

You can't. It's in a binary format, it must be accessed through the Traffic Manager pages on the router.
 
what is the structure of this file? maybe i can write a parser for it. i wanted to use charting to analyse the traffic and thats why i saved it to disk.

It's not documented (I didn't write it). You will have to analyze the cstats and rstats source code to determine it.
