I am not understanding something, can someone please enlighten me?
Wanting to set up a guest network on my router to give guests Internet access while not entering my internal LAN.
I also want to use this as a test bed for devices like Raspberry Pi units which I would use with VPN to access the main network etc.

So I want to be able to define different subnets for the main LAN and the guest network, but I cannot find that when I look at the config.
This is what I found regarding the guest network:

Notice the line named RT-AX86U Pro where its IP on the main LAN is 192.168.119.1 is shown, but no indication on how to define the IP range for the guest network...

Could someone please advice how I can define a different DHCP IP range for the guest network?

The f/w on this router is as below if that matters:

Maybe see if setting up a VLAN where you can configure the IP subnet and DHCP server may work. Then see if you can assign that VLAN to the Guest Network Pro network.

Example from the VLAN link above:

The limited ability of configuring a different IP subnet with WiFi clients using Guest Network Pro (with the initial 3.0.0.6.102_34312 firmware) on a RT-AX86U Pro is what drove me back to using Asus-Merlin firmware along with YazFi.

Could this improve the situation?
No.

Your image in OP is the 1st part of defining a VLAN.

Fill out this 1st screen and [Apply]. Then edit your newly created VLAN and find the VLAN ID field. Change it to the subnet you want.

See Asus instructions as additional instructions...

The new FW will not change the steps necessary to set up a VLAN.

I am being offered to upgrade the firmware as shown here:

It may do. Wait until the new version of the firmware has positive comments about the features you want in the "ASUSWRT - Official" forum.
Or take one for the other members and update. You can always downgrade back to the version you are using now.

OK, thanks.
I will return to this in 2 weeks after getting back home from a trip.
Don't want to update the f/w right now when getting out tomorrow...

Without knowing what the firmware update version is and what updates or changes have been made in the firmware one cannot say if new firmware would improve the "situation". I would venture to guess no, it wouldn't since the latest 3.0.0.6.102_34314 publicly posted firmware's change log for the RT-AX86U Pro doesn't indicate any changes that may impact Guest Network Pro.
ASUS RT-AX86U Pro Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34314
Version 3.0.0.6.102_34314
58.16 MB

Fixed injection vulnerability.

As indicated by the several posts above (with Asus support links) you likely or apparently have to use the VLAN option to set the IP address range to be used by Guest Network Pro entries.

VLAN seems to be a thing for the LAN and not for WiFi...
At least on my router VLAN appears in the LAN section.

I don't really understand what it is or how it is used....
But as I said I have to leave it for now due to travel.
