How to troubleshoot ac66 randomly rebooting

I have the same problem with versions 43 to 45 randomly rebooting even when I monitored I have less than 40 my of ram used. Is there a way to see the words before it gets rebooted add there is nothing on syslog even when I set a remote syslog server to collect the logs.

The only way is by disassembling the router and hooking a TTL serial cable to it.

Is the the only RT-AC66U which does this? I'm currently looking to buy it and flash merlin but I really want it to be reboteless.

This is specific to this user. The firmware is perfectly stable for the majority of users.

I had the same problem - random reboots from 10mins to several hours.


The only thing that really helped, and was meantioned somewhere in this forum, was to get in the recovery mode and reflash the firmware.

since than, no reboot anymore.

I have also done that, no help.

The only change I have done is to dnsmasq settings, not sure if that could be the culprit. I will disable the settings and see if it fixes the problem. I noticed that the problem exists with the following versions :

.44
.43 forked

The reboots are happening randomly even when the router is not heavily loaded. Typically it will happen within 24 hours of bootup. Does not seem to last more than 36 hours of continuous operation.
