Hello,

It seems official Asuswrt/Merlin running 2T2R instead of 4T4R.
And I saw there is some firmware unlock 4T4R on TUF-AX3000 v1, RT-AX58U v1/RT-AX3000 v1 (without changing territory_code) [recommended].
TUF-AX3000 has assassin mode [unlock 4T4R] but it is exclusive to the China model [CN].
The Global one [AA] does not include assassin mode.
Is there any tutorial for unlocking 4T4R on RT-AX58U v1/RT-AX3000 v1, and TUF-AX3000 v1??

Thank.

The firmware limit only the cfe's region (CN) to enable the 4T4R. So we have 2 methods to enable 4T4R.

The first method is easier. you need to modify the territory_code from cfe. Otherwise, it won't work. but It has limited options. [e.g. only available as main router, etc...] (backup your original cfe for safety, in case the router gets bricked)

The second method is more difficult. you need to modify the firmware (with cfe?) to enable 4T4R. [this method also work for RT-AX58U v1/RT-AX3000 v1, all regions/all modes, etc...]

Mucking about with CFE/uboot can land one in to a dark place where a costly device is bricked.

The devices you mention, the limits are due to regulatory constraints that the devices were submitted for approval, and the quirks there, esp with FCC and the EU/RED directives...

Going from 2*2:4 to 4*4:4 isn't going to help much as most WiFi 5/6/7 client devices are 2-stream...

So that is the reason why the assassin mode is limited to the CN one.
both CN model and AA model are available from my region but I don't know why they limit it until now.

Can't say what happens in the People's Republic of China - over there, they've got their own rules...

Going back to FCC/EU-RED - a fair amount of complexity around the radio aspects, with number of streams and beamforming...

At the end of the day - the solution delivered for the market is generally the best compromise available...

Marketing driven reasons. The same hardware devices are offered as AX3000 and AX5400. Not sure why China is different, perhaps more competition there in low cost devices. Huawei, Xiaomi, etc. have routers starting from $30.
