Hello everyone!
I've been chatting with THiggins about this but I understand he's busy and this might be too simple for him to waste his time with.
I'm having trouble setting up a WAN > LAN and LAN >WAN test using ixChariot 7.20 and I'm hoping someone can help me configure the computers, router, and computer running Chariot (the console).
Using thiggins's article as a guide: http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/wireless/wireless-howto/31679-how-to-test-a-wireless-router
I've got everything setup as such:
Router WAN IP: 192.168.1.100
Router LAN IP: 192.168.0.1
Computer 1 Connected to Router's WAN with IP: 192.168.1.10
Computer 2 (running Chariot - this is the console) Connected to Router's LAN with IP: 192.168.0.100
Computer 3 Connected to Router's LAN with IP: 192.168.0.101
Computer 3 is set as the DMZ in the router.
Windows Firewall is OFF on all 3 computers.
Router's Firewall is disabled.
I can ping from Computer 3 to Computer 1 (LAN to WAN)
I can ping from Computer 1 to Router's WAN IP (WAN to Router)
Running the High Performance Throughput Script on Chariot I have the pair setup as such:
WAN > LAN
Endpoint 1: Computer 1 192.168.1.10
Endpoint 2: Router WAN 192.168.1.100
This fails because of a communication error with Endpoint 1.
LAN > WAN
Endpoint 1: Computer 3 192.168.0.10
Endpoint 2: Computer 1 192.168.1.10
This fails becausing of a communication error with Endpoint 1.
Mr. Higgins gave me this tip:
"Console machine must be on LAN side of router.
WAN to LAN requires putting the LAN endpoint machine in the router's DMZ and using the router WAN IP as Endpoint2 in the script."
I'm not grasping this for some reason. Can someone please help me set this up?
Thanks very much for any assistance!
