Today Huawei announced its latest 5G modem router, the 5G CPE Pro. Based on the Balong 5000 chipset the CPE provides 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G connectivity with support for both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) 5G network architectures. At the Sub-6 GHz bands, Huawei claims that the Balong 5000 can achieve downlink speeds up to 4,6 Gb/s, while on mmWave frequencies downlink goes up to 6,5 Gb/s.
The 5G CPE Pro has also Wi-Fi 6 support with speeds up to 4,8 Gb/s, which most likely makes it a 4x4 MIMO configuration with up to 160MHz channels (less likely 8x8 MIMO with 80MHz channels). Huawei claims they have reached 3,2 Gb/s throughput in a live network test.
Aside from the 5G CPE Pro, Huawei also announced TIANGANG, a 5G base station core chip. They also mentioned they will release their first 5G smartphones based on Balong 5000 at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona late February.

The Huawei 5G CPE Pro achieves a high speed of 3.2 Gbps in live network tests
Powered by Balong 5000, the Huawei 5G CPE Pro supports both 4G and 5G wireless connections. On a 5G network, a 1-GB HD video clip can be downloaded within three seconds, and 8K video can be streamed smoothly without lag. This sets a new benchmark for home CPEs. In addition to homes, the Huawei 5G CPE Pro can also be used by small and medium-sized enterprises for super-fast broadband access.
Adopting new Wi-Fi 6 technology, the Huawei 5G CPE Pro delivers speeds of up to 4.8 Gbps. It is the first 5G CPE that supports HUAWEI HiLink protocols, bringing smart homes into the 5G era.
