I can't update GUI for VPN Client

gmaddry

New Around Here
I can change the VPN sever for the client 1 and then do apply. It seems to update but after the process finishes I still have the original sever. I can change the server by updating nvram, but that doesn't change the GUI. I have done a factory reset and reloaded using the nvram save script. I have also done the factory reset and reloaded using the script but without the VPN client variables. The CA cert is now gone but the sever still shows the old value. This with an ASUS RT-AC66U with 376.44 firmware. I have cleared browser history and used different browsers. Also I can't switch to Client 2. I can select the screen changes and I can briefly see client 2 then the screen switches back to client 1.
I can change other settings, but not the VPN client ones.
Any suggestions for fixing the problem.

Start by updating the firmware to the latest version, as there has been a lot of code changes to the OpenVPN webui since 376.44.

Thank you for the suggestion.
I upgraded firmware to 476-49_4. No change in GUI. When I went to VPN client the old server was there and I couldn't switch to client 2. I did a factory reset and with all defaults I could switch from client 1 to 2. I used nvram restore script to restore settings without the client VPN I again had the old server in the GUI, but not in nvram. I used part of the nvram restore script to restore only VPN. No change is GUI but I was connected the VPN server that I specified in the script.
It looks like my only option is to do factory restore and rebuild my settings manually. Do you, Merlin, have any other suggestion. I am mystified as to where the GUI values are coming from.

A lot of things could be wrong if the cause is a corrupted or invalid nvram setting.

This morning I had lost internet from my PC. I rebooted the router. VOIP phone was connected but not my PC. I logged into the router from my phone and everything was working even VPN client. I rebooted my PC and logged in from it and everything is working.
I REALLY hate it a computer starts working for no reason. I can only hope it doesn't break again since I have no clue why it stop working or why it started working again.
Thanks again for the suggestion.
