Neither the one you ordered, nor the one you got, are genuine Toshiba adapters. But they can still work fine of course.

Flip your laptop over and find a sticker that says something like DC input voltage = 15V 6A (or whatever the numbers are). If that matches the output voltage and current labelled on the AC to DC adapter, then it's safe to use.

(Naturally, the same goes for any device running on DC. It was good to check - some people plug any adapter lying around that fits, then watch the sparks and smoke...)

That's OK - it is still safe.

The voltage expected by the laptop must match that output by the adapter, because this is always the actual voltage that will be put out.

The current however is drawn from the laptop - so 5A on the laptop sticker actually means maximum current draw (it might even say 5A max). Therefore the adapter has to actually be rated at a max current output of 5A or higher to meet the current requirements of the device.

Usually original adapters just match, because a higher current adapter is more expensive etc. Toshiba have a replacement adapter selector on their website/shop - their official selection for your model is a 15V 6A adapter. I don't know what happened to the 15V 5A adapter, or if there ever was one - do you have your original, what does it say?

I don't have the the Original one, I did check there website and saw that the one they list has the same specs. Thanks for your help.

Toshiba sai that this adapter is fine, and that i made ou considering how much theres cost, the specs are the same.
