Looking at ASUS® RT-N66U any comments ? Will it handle 2 Xbox ones and a laptop and iPhone, users 4 in total or will it start to slow down ? Or any other router you would recommend thanks.

Its a good router . But if you have or going to get ac clients and willing to spend a little bit more for extra performance and range, i suggest ac68p

Do these routers tend to over heat? And the reason I'm looking at this router also it's because it will support more then one Xbox consoles without any NAT issues at all from what I read.

Forget about the heat problem if it's under 100c . Overclocked my ac68u to 1200,800 and most of the time its running at 76c .

In term of software. To my knowledge they are both identical .

To be honest with you , i don't know how these routers perform with xbox or play station .
Don't get me wrong the n66u is a great router and will do the job very well, but if i were in your place at this time i would get the ac68p.

AC66U and N66U are exactly the same but the AC66U is with AC Wireless support.

Don't let my AC68P recommendation distracts you. Your experience might be totally different than mine due to the environment and requirement.

If you don't have or plan to have any clients with 5GHz band capability, save some bucks and buy a 2.4GHz only WiFi router.

Very happy with my AC66Us (2 of them one as router, the other as repeater). Highly recommend them, but if I was buying today I would get the 68Ps instead. Price today for the 68 is the same as I paid a year ago for the 66s, and with dual processors and now stable FW, I would get the 68s today. BTW, never any issues with temps, ever. Rock solid and reliable.
